    Discovering the Treasure of Rest:
    Guest Post by Nancy Reece

What if you could accomplish ALL you need to do and feel rested – even refreshed – while doing it? What would it feel like for your coaching, your leadership, your parenting to be described as calming and energizing? We’ve got the tools you need for a refreshing, calming, energizing year. After decades in executive leadership and then executive coaching, Nancy Reece has discovered how to accomplish more by doing less. Now Nancy mentors and equips women leaders to choose well, lead well, and love well. Nancy will unpack her treasure box of tools for us at iCON, July 1-6, 2019.     I frequently talk with people about rest…

    Dr. Moon Is Not Stressed:
    A Radio Interview

The title’s a take byway of a recent blog from Dr Teresa Moon, “I’m Not Stressed”, who’s the founding President and CEO of the Institute for Cultural Communicators, and the good Doctor popped by our roaming studio – courtesy of CLA – to chat about how her organization equips youth to integrate lessons from both high-tech and high-touch learning environments for real- world application. Reposted from iWork4Him with permission.

    Too Blessed to be Stressed

All of my team members have bitmojis – those cute little cartoon caricatures that communicate all sorts of attitudes and emotions. We use them regularly in informal communication. Flavoring our correspondence with bitmojis often lowers the temp on otherwise challenging topics. One bitmoji is my cartoon self declaring I am “2 blessed to be stressed.” I don’t love this one. It actually kind of annoys me. Take the past few days for example. The mother of two toddlers, I was caregiver for my mother-in-law through her aortic bypass. I was in graduate school while teaching full time. My husband’s health was failing and we were losing his business. That’s when I was hospitalized. I needed a reality check. Self-awareness is an essential leadership competency. I was not self-aware…

Lessons in Rest and Renewal from My Walk by the Lake

I like to see a lot happen in a hurry. I’m wired for productivity. An ordinary walk for me is usually spent multi-tasking – phone calls, podcasts, audio books. Today’s walk was different. My hosts recommended the walking path around the lake behind their home. So, on Sunday morning, before church – but after coffee – I headed toward the lake. I told myself I would be distinctly focused on my very clear purpose. I had been reading about rest and renewal for Christian leaders. I needed it for myself. I felt like I was on a runaway train – and not on the right track! My schedule was overfilled…
